How do I convert iMessages to Sms text?

my daughter had an IPhone that was stolen. She is now using an android. Many of her friends have IPhone and she cannot receive the messages they send in iMessage. is there a way to have the iPhone auto convert iMessages to Sms text when they are recieved by non Apple cell phones?
