I have been trying to clear the dropbox app on my computer. I followed the directions provided by dropbox but when I empty the trash can, I get a prompt that the application is still in use. I have restarted, no change. I cannot find anything actively using dropbox. Any ideas?

I copied some of my droboox folders to regular folders locations. They continue to show a "shared folder" icon on them (stick figures on the blue folder icon). Could this be the problem?
Trash – Empty When File is Locked or in Use
Try holding down the option/alt key while trying to delete the Trash. If that doesn’t work, here is some more information.
Try logging out and then back in.
I erased dropbox, but trash says it is still in use
