Symbols & Characters

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a symbols & characters list for all of the key combinations (i.e. option+8 = •, option+g = ©, etc.). I already know the commonly used ones, but I'm tired of digging around FontBook or the Keyboard Input Menu if I want to use something unique like †, ¥, or Œ. (option+t, option+y, and option+q respectivley). I'd like to print it out and keep it on my bulletin board at my desk...

there is a utility called PopChar X by Macility that I find indispensible.

Thanks Eric, but that's not exactly what I had in mind... PopChar is quite similar to FontBook's special character function. I'm looking for something more like a list that I can print out and pin to my bulletin board as a quick reference guide.

How about screenshots of Keyboard Viewer in Option and Option + Shift modes? I think you can do this with Grab.

PS Sorry, that chart is for OS 9 and not OS X.

Amber,

Go to the the Star-Spangled Banner in the menu bar and choose "Show Character Palette". Every symbol available is listed in this window. You can place the commonly used symbols in to your Favourites for quick access by going to the cog [ ✿ ⇣ ] at the bottom of the window and choosing Add to Favorites [sic]. Although this is nearly what you do now but by adding them to the favourites section you should be able to speed up what you do.

Unless you are using OS 9, it is not correct. OS X is different, as can be seen from kblayout.jpg.
