Wallet cropped/zoomed in on iPhone 6s

On my new iPhone 6s, Apple Wallet is zoomed in (edges are cropped from cards, making some unusable) and controls are off-screen.

This happens in "standard" view mode, not "zoomed".

Other comments:

1. Doesn't happen on double-click from locked state.

2. In zoomed mode, everything is fine.

It appears that Apple Wallet is a "scaled" app (like Calc. Compass, etc.), and it's getting confused in "standard" mode.

This is a known bug (see: Reddit), but Apple isn't doing anything about it.

Just to follow up with my original responses. I've done full wipe new. The problem is still there if I only setup the wallet. What I haven't heard is someone with a 6s that does not have this problem. Its simply got to be an ios problem. There are quite a few bugs still not fixed with 9.0.2. Very annoying that a brand new out of the box won't work. On that note I'll prob return my phone if they can show me a new phone can display the Apple Pay , calendar, and other buggy things correctly on a new phone. I'll follow up

Calendar too?! What were the boys and girls at Infinity Loop smoking when they tested iPhone 6s and iOS 9? Does anybody know:

  1. (Repeating HBSteve's question): Are there any iPhone 6s's that do not experience this problem?
  2. Does it happen on iPhone 6's as well?
  3. What happens if one deletes from the old iPhone (5x ... and maybe 4s, too?) all apps that can be reinstalled, then makes a backup, then restores that backup to the iPhone 6s? I realize this won't be a good solution for everyone, if, indeed, it's a solution at all.
  4. Is this problem resolved in the latest iOS 9.1 beta?

Good news ... for those who can wait that long. I haven't yet made the mistake of restoring my iPhone 6s from a backup (albeit from an iPhone 4s) and would like to find a way of restoring just E-mail configuration, SMS's, Phone logs, etc., without running into the problem. Can anybody provide an educated guess about whether deleting all purchased apps (incl. their data), then making a backup of the iPhone 4s in that state, is likely to result in a backup that can be restored to a new iPhone 6s without incurring the "zoomed display" problem? Purchased apps can be installed from the App Store, and I can probably re-enter what little data I will lose.

Background information:

I haven't activated my new iPhone 6s for several reasons:

  1. I don't yet have a suitable protective case for it. I am expecting one that I ordered to arrive any day now.
  2. I need to activate a micro SIM card that Swisscom supplied for the iPhone 6s. That will automatically deactivate the SIM card for the same telephone number in my iPhone 4s.
  3. I have been hoping that Apple would release an update to iOS 9 that solves the problem by the time the case for the iPhone 6s arrives.
  4. I have been hoping to obtain more information on what apps are affected, and whether only backing them up with data in them causes the problem.

Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If this issue is the only thing you are worried about, you are blowing it way out of proportion. While it is annoying, there is a simple workaround that I've mentioned above. Keep the 'zoomed' setting instead of standard and reduce the system font size to the smallest possible. The result is not horrible and works fine for the interim until the fix in iOS 9.1 arrives.

I am not "worrying" about this issue. I am attempting to use the time that I have until my case arrives to avoid it. Once I have the case, I will activate the iPhone 6s, at which time I will no longer be able to use the iPhone 4s. I do not want to use the iPhone 6s without a case.

Yes, Apple will eventually fix the problem. The fix seems to be in the 9.1 beta, but Apple as been known to roll out a releases without things that were in the beta, as well as to delay rolling out a release in order to tackle more urgent problems, e.g., those that might affect the iPad Pro.

I used your tip to actually be able to see the cards in my wallet, but I don't seem to be able to remove old ones. I had the Target app on my 5s and added a pass that expired last year. I also received a new pass from Macy's via a text sent to them and it shows up in Wallet but not on lock screen. I'm not terribly upset about this because I know a fix is coming but still, it's annoying. Someone stated here in this thread a list of other apps were zoomed also but I checked and none of mine were. BTW I tried to restore from iCloud backup on the only day that iTunes Apple ID server was down (verified by Apple care) so while I was able to see my iCloud backup, I could not restore from it. So because this new phone was burning a hole in my pocket I did an iTunes backup instead. I wonder if people are seeing different results vis a vis iCloud restore versus iTunes restore.

I had this problem and found an odd quirk that fixed it.

1. Switch your phone in zoomed mode.

2. Open wallet (it appears in standard mode)

3. keep wallet app open and open preferences>displays & brightness>view. It is vital you keep wallet open.

4. Switch to back to standard mode.

5. Wallet should stay in standard mode. Close wallet and reopen to verify that it has stayed in standard mode.

This worked for me and wallet has stayed in standard mode since.

I put my 6s in zoom mode and just left it there. I really don't care if it is zoomed or not. Once zoomed I was able to remove two old passes for Target and Macy's that expired last December. It probably is stupid to suggest that among other housekeeping jobs we do on our phones, like clearing out unwanted calendar entries, texts, contacts and memos prior to creating a backup we should probably clean up passbook stuff from our older phones. I only had this issue come up because I left old stuff in there.

Thanks for figuring this out!
