Keyboard and trackpad not working after sleep

Hi everybody

I bought a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015 - 3.1 GHz Intel Core i7 - 16 GB 1867 MHz DDR3 - Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB) 2 weeks ago. I generally use it with an external monitor and a keyboard and everything is fine. Yesterday I started to use it with the built in keyboard and it was unresponsive at login. Then all of a sudden it started working again. I noticed though that when I wake up the laptop, the keyboard and trackpad are unresponsive again. If I attach an external keyboard, anyway, they start working! I updated to 10.10.5 before migrate all my data from another mac 2 weeks ago.

I went to a genius bar this morning and they told me it has to be an hardware problem but I couldn't leave the macbook there because I need it so I'm using the external keyboard at the moment when the built-in keyboard doesn't work.

I'm not sure it is an hardware problem. How is possible that it does work fine until I activate the sleep mode?

What should I do? I need my laptop for work is there a way to get a replacement?

Thanks.

Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Hi Seung-jin,

I met the same unresponsive built-in keyboard issue on the second day of macbook using. Mine is Macbook Pro Retina, 13 inch, Early 2015, 2,7GHz, 8Gb Ram. My trackpad is still working, thus I could restart the laptop. Weirdly that although the built-in keyboard doesn't work for all other apps, I could type when using "Spotlight Search".

Today the keyboard became unresponsive again after I used the Dictionary (by selecting a word and force touched the trackpad).

I reset the SMC and PRAM, not sure if the issue is resolved. I will check with the Dictionary and Spotlight again if it will occur.

Please update us what Apple support did for your laptop. Hope that your macbook will be ok.

Mai.

Hi Seung-jin,

It's good to hear that your macbook is back on track after hardware replacement.

Mine is actually the software issue. The culprit is indeed the software developed by our company which has not been tested well at that time. After uninstalling the app the unresponsive issue doesn't appear again.

But I reinstalled OS as well as per recommendation by local Apple service care. I also updated my mac, now I can use our company app without issue.

Btw, your Pororo avatar is nice ^^.
