If you want to share Contacts, Calendars, etc. then you need to use the same Apple ID for iCloud
Your Apple ID is used in four places the App and iTunes Store, iCloud, Messages, and FaceTime.
We use the same ID in iCloud to share our Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, & Notes.
