Oct 3, 2015 7:08 AM in response to MaricarmenMSMby menbuy,Had same problem after El Capitan / iOS9.0.2 upgrade on MacBook Pro Retina and iPad Air. This is how I fixed this issue:
1. Stop Photos sync (deselect "Sync Photos" in iTunes) and then sync
2. Backup Mac Photos library (just to make sure)
3. Rebuild Mac Photos library (Quit Photos app, re-launch Photos app while hold downing Command+Option keys, choose “Repair”)
4. Quit all applications and reboot Mac
5. Quit all apps and reboot iPad
6. Restart Photos sync (check "Sync Photos" in iTunes)
7. Sync
Et voila!

Oct 5, 2015 12:57 PM in response to MaricarmenMSMby Asukahan,I had exactly the same problem like you, but after I changed the language of my mac back to English from Chinese, everything went fine. If you have foreign languages used on your mac, try to change it back and sync again.

Oct 6, 2015 10:15 PM in response to MaricarmenMSMby SCC799,This may sound strange but it works for me.
Connect iPhone to Mac. Open Photos App and iTunes.
Go to iPhone <Settings> -- <Photo&Camera> and turn on <iCloud Photo Library>.
A message pop up "....it would delete......". Go ahead and click 'OK'.
Wait a few minutes and then turn off <iCloud Photo Library>.
Go to iTune and sync from Photos App.
It works for me.

Oct 13, 2015 7:55 AM in response to menbuyby mroverseas,I tried all of the above.....to no effect.
I spent two hours with various levels of Apple Support and had no success. At this point, I had given up and was resigned to waiting for the next OS update.
However, the issue now appears to be FIXED.....either by the various actions taken or by good fortune!
