Q: iPhone 6s Distorted Sound

Oct 28, 2015 9:37 AMby acd.residence,Any official statements from Apple? What are we going to do? I do not want to replace my phone unless it's a boxed one and it may have other defects aswell. Apple are selling ****. Last years 6 I have replaced 6 times and nearly sued them for it cuz I basically stayed without a phone for 1.5 months during the period. Anyone can make something and make them respond to this? Is it software or hardware. Because I am sure on 9.0.2 on 90+ % battery I didn't experience it (or maybe didn't that much) but I can't tell anymore. We need to submit feedback and if somebody could urge them to respond to us or deliver a fix it would be great! If we unite ourselves - they will fall.

But i think it can be hardware because Apple sold million of 6S and we are not so many here !So no luck again :/
i use my phone to watch music video like guitar lessons and the sound crackles, peaks buzz at 70% volume. CMON APPLE ! WAKE UP!

I was told twice at the Genius Bar in NYC that they would not replace my phone, that I have to wait until Apple acknowledges the problem and either does a recall or some kind of a fix. The problem with my phone is that many people don't hear what I'm hearing. They think I'm being fussy. But I know what I hear, dammit!!!

Oct 31, 2015 1:00 AMby GUE Diver,Afraid iOS 9.2 Beta 1 does not make any noticeable difference - which is why I suspect poor quality components. Incidentally, there are two types of A9 chip and everyone of my iPhones (with distortion) have had a Samsung version fitted. Could that be the problem?

Apple just used two foundries to make sure there were enough silicon to go round, the differences between both chips are actually quite negligible http://www.techrepublic.com/article/apples-iphone-chips-arent-as-different-as-so me-have-reported/ No it wont make a difference because they are both the same architecture, and this is a bug thats probably low on Apples list as its not something everyone tends to notice, as many folks don't sit obsessing over their phones. Letting Apple know via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html is your best bet.

Oct 31, 2015 4:37 AMby GUE Diver,This speaker issue has been passed to Apple for investigation through varying sources, but it is also important to establish if this is a one off issue or effecting many users. Have you tried playing the iTunes track (Agnes Obel - Chord Left) or other music with piano content on your iPhone at 75% volume to check for faults? This is also evident using You Tube and CD's ripped to the highest standard. No issues using the same source music on iPad or iPhone 5S.
Definitely hardware issue with many examples of the 6S

Oct 31, 2015 5:24 AMby ewskydawg,Unfortunately the Type of chip does not seem to matter as I have the TSMC chip and still have distortion. As far as the Agnes Obel Track. This track plays distorted on my 5S as well as my 6S, and I feel it's simply not a good track, as my 5S does not exhibit distortion on any other audio track that I can remember, not to mention the Opening, and Slow Rise ringtones. I'm afraid we are no closer to the truth any which way we spin it.

The problem is that many people should have this problem, but few people bother to complain or many do not know they have This problem. We have to get together and complain, apple has to solve the Situation, we are talkin about expensive equipment, premium., we can not allow these type of things.. I've already sent my feedback to apple team via the apple site, do the same please. Agnes Obel track is one of many, that play well without problems on iPad , iPod touch and lots of smartphones that I tried and on iPhone 6s specifically distorts, it's a shame. Do something !!!!!!

So i did the ios 9.2 beta beta public update and :
At 65 % battery - ios 9.2 beta :
Slowrise and opening : no more distortion at full volume.
I think they have decreased the volume of ringtones or something like that...
BUT : huge distortion on YT music video :
Try " Canon in D (classical guitar) per-olov KIndren" for exemple
Agnes Obel songs ( chords left,riverside etc)
Daft punk the game of love
Videos with PIANO or Classical guitar are sounds horrible !
I think it's hardware and the speaker quality is really really bad. Shame for a product like that.
I had the 3gs, 4s, 5s and NEVER experienced this kind of issue.

and iphone 6s Ios 9.2.
I used a sound meter and first, the output volume is the same on both devices BUT iphone 5s don't CRACKLES,
the Iphone 6s sounds very badly.(satuaration, peaks, cracks)
