Q: How does this and Photos work?

So I did A LOT of work touching up my photos on my iPhone 6 (iOS 9) + using Google Photos. Then I come to Yosemite > Photos and see a lot of the photos, though have been synced via iCloud photos, still remains untouched (no edits/filters).

I tried copying them to my desktop / or even importing from my phone connected, neither shows up as edited. THEN somehow, after a few more tries, it starts REVERTING all the photos on my phone! so now they are all back to original!!

This is the 2nd time I've been trying to deal with this and just been so TOUGH to get the photos onto my computer the way I wanted it to!!! And no please don't tell me to email the photos to myself because I know that works, but I am not emailing 900 photos + videos. I've heard adding a shared album works too but that sounds dumb as well and takes forever to upload/download again.

Anyone has figured out how this works yet or if there's another app I can use?!?!?! i tried searching but found nothing!!! thanks!! M SUPER FRUSTRATED!
