How do I restore Groups to Contacts from time machine?

Yes, I have seen numerous answers to this question, ALL involving "Address Book" or "Addressbook". I have managed to miss most of the NCAA football games because of this little diddy. I managed to mangle my Contacts yesterday while trying to convert to .cvs files for Constant Contact. Don't ask...

In the process of trying to restore, the best I have been able to do/understand is to turn off iCloud and find it again in my Time Machine. Finally, I got my contacts back...but no groups. The ONLY Address Book that I can find either in Spotlight or Search is, "Export Address Book". I've gone to App support and it has everything but Address Book and Contacts.

Lastly, if I understand correctly, as soon as i restore iCloud, everything goes back to screwed up. How can I prevent Big Cloud from doing this? It's been a long day and thank you!!

Sorry about that.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select LibraryApplication Support/AddressBook..
