    Hello Cambria,

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

If I understand correctly, you aren't able to use the Hey Siri feature to ask Siri questions with your iPhone 6s without pressing the Home button. The article below provides a lot of great information and troubleshooting tips that should help you resolve the issue with the Hey Siri feature.

Use Siri on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Turn "Hey Siri" on or off and personalize the feature

To ask questions without pressing the Home button first, plug your device in to power and turn on "Hey Siri.” With iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, you can use this feature without plugging in to power.

    1. Go to Settings > General > Siri.
    2. Turn on Allow "Hey Siri."
    3. In iOS 9 or later, follow the onscreen prompts to make your voice more recognizable for "Hey Siri."* This lowers the chance that other people will accidentally activate Siri on your device.

You can turn off "Hey Siri" in Settings > General > Siri. In iOS 9 or later, you can also temporarily disable "Hey Siri" by setting your device face down.

*Information about your voice isn't tracked or stored outside of your iOS device. You can remove this information by turning off “Hey Siri.”

    Cheers.

Thank you for the response, however I had already been to that page and tried all line-by-line with no joy.  What should I do next to get Siri working as billed?

    Regards,

    Patrick

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities, Patrick. Due to the nature of the Hey Siri issue, you may find more information by using another one of the Apple support resources provided here:  https://getsupport.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.action.

    Hi There,

    I found the answer:  Settings/Touch ID & Passcode/enter your passcode/Allow Access When Locked/toggle Siri on.     :-)

Thanks for the responses, hope this helps others.

Cambria!  Thank you so much, this has been bugging me for the past two months. "Hey Siri" was not working on my iPhone 6s and this would explain why. It is really poor design that you need to enable it is two places (Siri settings and Passcode settings).  Again thank you.
