signing into iCloud

Had tech support set up an iCloud account for me in iTunes. When all was set up, he had me go to iCloud.com to sign in, iCloud would not allow me to sign. He had me try a number of times and even sign out of iTunes and sign back in using my Apple ID and password, no problem. I was transferred to a Senior tech. who was also confused as to why I could't sign into my iCloud account. After speaking with 3 techs, finally the senior tech told me he would have to talk with an engineer to figure out the problem. Suppose to get back to early next week..can anyone shed any light on me problem.

Oops, I forgot to say tell you that it was my iPhone 5s information we were trying to transfer to the iCloud.

iMac (21.5-inch Late 2009), Mac OS X (10.7.5)
