iPhone 6s 2.4 Ghz Wifi issues

i've had my iPhone 6s Plus 128 GB for a little over a day and i just ran into a problem with Wifi. I have two 802.11n networks at home: a 5 Ghz anod 2.4 Ghz, each with it's own SSID. My iPhone was connected to the 5 Ghz network and it started dropping to LTE for a bit and then going back on the 5 Ghz network. I was in an area of the house where 5 Ghz isnt that good, so I figured I'd try the 2.4 Ghz, which I had expected the phone to switch to since my 5s normally did in that area.

Well, not only didn't my 2.4 Ghz network show up in the Wifi settings, but the 6 other nearby 2.4 Ghz networks didn't either. The only networks that showed up were the three 5 Ghz ones and sometimes those disappeared and came back. Even my iPad Air 2's instant personal hotspot that normally shows up was missing which is really odd since that's not "on", it's a setting to enable it via "connectivity" which communicatEs via Bluetooth to turn it on. Though Bluetooth is also 2.4 Ghz.

I tried toggling Wifi off and on, which did nothing. I checked my iPad Air 2 and iPhone 5s and they saw all the networks. Finally I restarted my 6s Plus and all the missing 2.4 Ghz wifi networks showed up as did the iPad's personal hotspot. I don't think this is an iOS 9 issue as I've been running that on my Air 2 and 5s without any Wifi problems. It happened within 24 hours of setting up my 6s Plus.

Anyone else see this Issue?

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 9.0.1

So far I've only ever seen this problem in my home and it happens anywhere from every 12 hours to every 2 days. It's defiantly an issue with Bluetooth as I said since toggling the Bluetooth setting fixes both Bluetooth and Wifi.

I managed to find another person having the same problem. He said it happened twice in one week and the work around was the same, toggling Bluetooth.

I'be done everything short of restoring as new or swapping the phone. As it appears to be a software issue based on the fact that Bluetooth works most of the time, I'm hesitant to swap the phone for a refurb model that might be more defective. That's happened to me in the past, where I swapped a phone to fix a gyroscope issue and got one that randomly blue screened.

I have the same issue on my iPhone 5S. Started happening recently after I bought Motorola Moto 360 2nd gen smart watch. I though that something is wrong with my wifi, but the same happening in the office. Only 5GHz wifi works with no issues. Then I found this forum and tried disable my Bluetooth and voila I can get websites displayed again. But when I switch the Bluetooth back on again, I cannot open a single website. I didn't have this problem with Pebble smart watch. But it can be just because the Bluetooth chip got damaged after 24hours every single day usage. My phone is 2 years old now.

I restored as new and still saw the problem. Apple told me to have the device replaced and to set it up as new again (really?). I'm doing that tomorrow. For what it's worth, I've only found 3 cases of this problem including myself. You, me and a guy at the following link: http://forums.imore.com/iphone-6s-plus/343353-6s-plus-periodically-losing-blueto oth-wifi.html#post2616257

I'm having the exact same issue as you describe, with my iPhone 6s 64GB:

1) At some point 2.4GHz wifi networks disappear from my wifi network listing. This includes my 2.4GHz network in my house as well as all neighboring networks on the same band (so it's not my router).

2) My phone switches to my 5GHz wifi network

3) I notice when this occurs that I lose BT connection to my Apple Watch (see the "red" disconnect icon on watch face)

4) Toggle Bluetooth off, wait a couple of seconds

5) Toggle Bluetooth on, I can then connect to my 2.4GHz network AND can see all neighbor networks, and watch reconnects

It seems to happen to me 2-3 times per day. It happened before I got my Apple Watch but the frequency seems to be worse since I've paired it to my phone. The amount of BT activity might influence the frequency of issue.

I'm considering taking my phone back to the store and seeing if a replacement phone solves the issue.

I'm having the exact same problem where the 2.4 GHz will disappear and switch my iPhone6 over to 5GHz or LTE. However, this started happening after I started using a second router in my house. I have tested it by turning off the second router and it does not occur and when I turn it on, it does occur by dropping the 2.4. I can fix it on my iPhone by toggling the bluetooth and the 2.4 will return. So I concluded that it must be a setting in the new router with the 2.4 getting too crowded and the bluetooth interfering some type of way. The channel width in the new router was set to Auto 20/40 MHz so I changed it to 20 as someone previously suggested. My original router was already set to 20 MHz. I'm going to see if this works.

Since this seems unique to your setup, have you tried your phone at a different location like a coffee shop? This would help isolate the issue to either your phone or your wifi. I have four iOS devices and they do not have the problem. Here are some general guidelines for wifi issues.

2) Perform a Forced Restart: Hold down the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons at the same time for about 15-20 seconds until the Apple logo appears. Allow device to restart.

3) Reset Network Settings: Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Rejoin the Network again.

4) Change to Google's DNS: Settings > Wi-Fi > Click on the Network, Delete all numbers under DNS and enter 8.8.8.8 or alternatively 8.8.4.4

5) Reboot Router/Modem: Unplug from power for 2 minutes and plug again. Update Router Firmware (check manufacturer’s support website). Verify your router is Wi-Fi certified.

6) Determine if other Wi-Fi devices on network are working well (other iOS devices, Macs, PCs).

7) Try device at another Network, i.e., neighbors’, public coffee house, etc.

8) Restore the Device (ask for additional for details if desired).

9) Go to an Apple Store for hardware evaluation.

I am inclined to believe that it is hardware. Just because it happens here and there does not exclude a hardware issue at all. Don't know where you are at - I am in Houston - had my iPad replaced two weeks ago, was told by the Apple Store rep that they do not replace with refurbished devices, only new ones. Is this true of not, hard to say but that is what he told me... In Jan 2015 I had my iPhone replaced as well and was told the same thing, iPhone #2 lasted one day - defective display - went back to the store and got iPhone #3 which I am using now and all is well, bluetooth and all (on 4 iOS devices). Don't know what else to recommend - your only option at this point is to restore as New - not as bad as it sounds because you could do so, test it in New condition for a day or two and then restore your backup. If it works first and then does not after the backup restore, you have a corrupted backup. If it does not work as New you likely have a defective phone and time for the store it is.... Best of luck.

This happened again. I noticed that when this happened BlueTooth also stopped working. Since BT uses the 2.4 Ghz radio, that makes sense. I called Apple Support and they had me reset network settings, which I doubt will help. They said if it happens again, to do a restore. I feel it's either a software or hardware bug.
