Send audio to AirPlay while mirroring screen on projector?

got an ATV but realized you can't mirror the Mac screen and send audio to airport express at the same time. Is it possible to do this if I hooked my Mac up directly to the projector like an external monitor via hdmi while sending audio to AirPlay? (Movie on projector, movie sound on AirPlay speakers?)

That should work. By physically tethering via HDMI, you're eliminating the Airplay Mirroring feature for video, and only using Airplay as an audio output. Let me know if this is not the case though...

Worked as I outlined. Took back the ATV and simply plugged in the projector via HDMI and switch the audio output to airplay.
