Sep 27, 2015 2:29 AM in response to Claxyby GeeD,After you have updated to iMovie 10 (the latest) you can create new events and name them as you wish. You can move clips between events how you like. See: http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.0.8/#/mov74d7d370c for details.

Sep 27, 2015 2:49 AM in response to GeeDby Claxy,Thanks for your reply, and I'm using iMovie 10.0.9, but every time I want to create a New Event, it creates it in 2015, not 2014 or earlier, even if I've highlighted that year. I seem to only be able to create a new Event for 2015.

Sep 27, 2015 3:12 AM in response to Claxyby Claxy,It's okay. I think I've sorted it. Even though it forms a new Event in 2015, as soon as you put the older video into it, it moves to the year the video was made. Thanks.

Sep 27, 2015 3:19 AM in response to Claxyby GeeD,You have evidently selected 'sort events by 'Oldest to newest or newest to oldest like this:
It appears that the year depends on the most recent clip in the event. Right clicking on an event and selecting 'Sort by name' ignores the year:
You can name the events as you wish and even include the year you want in the name if you wish.
