does upgrading system remove malware?

My sophos software failed to clean up a adlware and PUAs alert and recommended manual cleanup - but was unable to locate any of the files named, using the search I'm running OS X 10.7.5 and wasn't going to upgrade just yet, but am wondering if it would sort out this sort of thing automatically?

Many thanks.

Many thanks for that quick response. I'd like to know what you mean re Sophos; why it is not needed. I wouldn't have known what was causing problems suddenly (after never having any security issues while on line before. Namely, scam popups freezing Safari).

Then the very next scan with Sophos revealed this new thing: Bundlore stuff on my computer.

Are you saying Mac is safe and always will be safe so don't bother with security software of this nature?

Adware removal manual method:

Malware – Adware removal – Apple Support

Or download this program which was written by Thomas Reed, a long time poster. The program will do the work for you which makes it easy. If you are uncertain about downloading programs, try the manual method.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac 10.7 and later

What should I do if Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac didn't solve my problem?
