Q: How do I take Aperture albums from an old Mac and import as an album to Photos?

I want to move my old Aperture albums to my new Mac Book.  I cannot get Aperture from the App store (has sun-setted) so I would like to upload from my stored albums on an external hard drive to Photos.  When Ido this the must be "repaired" and don't save to Photos.  Any ideas how to move albums to Photos?  Thanks

I want to move my old Aperture albums to my new Mac Book.

Which Aperture version created the Aperture Libraries? Are those Aperture 3 libraries or an earlier version of Aperture?

so I would like to upload from my stored albums on an external hard drive to Photos

Do you mean by "albums" Aperture Libraries? How is the external drive formatted?  You cannot migrate photo libraries (iPhoto, Aperture) on an external drive, if the file system of the drive is not MacOS Extended (Journaled). So check the file system. And enable the "Ignore Ownership on this volume" flag for the drive.  This will prevent permission and ownership problems when opening a library, that has been created on a different Mac.

This support document describes how to set the "Ignore Ownership" flag:  iPhoto: Sharing libraries among multiple users - Apple Support

Is Aperture still running on your old Mac? Then try to repair the Aperture library using Aperture on that Mac.  See: Aperture 3 User Manual: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library

To open the library on your Mac in Photos drag the library from the external drive onto the Photos icon in the Dock after you set the ignore Ownership flag.
