Q: Aperture Photo books?

If I create a photo book in Aperture, will Apple still print it out as usual?

    Hi all,

Along these lines, I've made photo books from Aperture for years.  I never "exported" the images (I just put them in the book), so the images were the full-resolution RAW images.

I've moved on from Aperture now (and I use Capture One Pro), but I plan to continue using Aperture's photobook feature because I've still never found a better one.  So what I plan to do is export full-size JPEGs from Capture One, import those to a project in Aperture, and make my book.  My question is:will printed the photos be of the same quality as before, or will there be a slight degradation (using JPEGs as opposed to previously using the RAW image)?

    Thank you!

No, there will be no change in print quality. That's because when a RAW file is imported into the library a JPEG version is created for viewing, etc.  When a book is created a PDF file of the book is created at 300 dpi for uploading and printing.  This is the same whether it's a RAW or jpeg file.

Be sure to review the book according to this Apple document:  iPhoto, Aperture: Previewing an order in iPhoto or Aperture - Apple Support,.  Save the PDF file to compare to the printed copy when it arrives.

I create a separate library for each book I create and order and then save it to an eternal HD in case I might want to order another copy at a later date.  This preserves the book and protects it from accidental deletion of photos or corruption via updates, etc.

Thank you!  That's good advice, and that's basically what I do.  After I create the book, I order one copy -- just to see it with my own eyes and see if I've made any mistakes.  Once I'm sure it's good to go, I order three more for my kids and posterity.  Thanks for the quick answer!
