IOS 9, find my friends, no longer sends notifications

Downloaded IOS 9 to my iPhone 6 Plus, and where friend finder used to send notifications whenever my family left a particular location, it now no longer works. What is the point then. They tried to fix something that wasn't broken, now they broke something else.

Notifications do not automatically start after you reboot your iOS9 device. You must either go into FMF and touch the notification OR request a notification from the offending friends device. From that point on, it appears that notifications work, until the next reboot. I consider this a ridiculous bug. It should have been caught easily in regression testing.

I have had the same issue. I never used FMF before the iOS 9 update, but I think I've figured out the problem.

Go to the app, and select the "me" section at the bottom. Then, scroll down to the section that says "show geofence alerts from," and make sure that "only my friends" is selected. For some reason, when "Everyone" is checked on either party's phone, the notifications don't show. I'm not sure how or why this works, but it worked for me! I just stumbled across this as a shot in the dark to fix the problem and it worked. Hope this helps!
