iOS 9.0.1 Issue

I have an iPhone 4s and recently tried to upgrade to ios 9.0.1. Midway through the (cellular) download the download stopped and the 'Connect to itunes' logo appeared. I have since attempted to restore and update my phone via cable and regardless of which method I try the furthest I have got is to about 75% of the progress bar before I get an error 9 or 29 on iTunes.

I checked one of the support boards which says unless the upgrade completes within 15 minutes, the iPhone will restart and interrupt the download meaning it won't complete. I've tried this now on both my old laptop and a much more modern one and get to the same point on both. Is there a way to download this quicker or an alternative option to help get this operating on my phone?

Hello gav_street,

I understand that, in the process of updating your iPhone via iTunes, you're getting a couple of different error messages which result in a failed update or restore. Fortunately we have some information that can help resolve these errors and should help get your iPhone successfully updated.

For Error 9:

Sometimes security software can stop your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.

Check your security software and settings to make sure that they aren't blocking a connection to the Apple servers.

If you still see the error message, check for USB connection issues.

For Error 29:

Errors: 1, 3, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 53, 56, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.

Your device or computer might have a hardware issue that stops the update or restore from completing.

  1. Check that your security software and settings aren't blocking your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
  2. Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
  3. Make sure that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
  4. If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

If you still see the error message, check for outdated or modified software.
