Is it possible to record directly from hs-5 roland?

I gang,

I'm starting with Garageband. I'm not a Pro with it.

I bought a HS-5 Session Mixer from Roland and it suppose to be possible to record directly from the HS-5 Session Mixer into a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation).

Did someone already done it and how do i do that?

First, your computer has to "recognize" your audio interface (in your case the HS+5 Session Mixer). If OSX "sees" that as a valid Audio Interface, then it show up in the GarageBand app when you go to Preferences ➤ Audio/MIDI ➤ Input Device.

Once it is listed in the menu, select it and its inputs should show up in GarageBand when you create an Audio Track. (in the Smart Control on the Input menu)

Hope that helps

Thank You very much Edgar,

I've been able to connect the HS-5 Roland and hear it in Garageband.

But there's a problem! I tried every 12 inputs that i saw to be able to hear something from my 5 channels. It was not possible to hear everything at the time. Only one channel at the time and it got to be select on Garageband screen. (Click on it one time)

Look on the photo the name of the channels and you see what was the channels organisation. Do you think that's normal?

As a default, GarageBand records on the selected Track. If you want to record multi-track (multiple inputs on different Tracks at the same time), then you have to make the "Record Enable" Button visible on the Track Header first.

Control+click on the Track Header and choose from the Track Header Components the Show/Hide Recod Enable. Tis is also available in the Main Menu Track ➤ Track Header Components ➤

Once visible, you can select that Button on each Track that you want to record on. Make sure that each Record-enabled Track is set to a different Input Channel.
