Inserting Power Point/Keynote into lecture video

I have three lecture videos, that I must insert the author's Power Point graphics into FCP-X. I am not sure how to do this, especially the animated files.

We do this often. It's a complicated process because PP people do not comprehend video. Our most often used technique is to recreate the slides using FCPX or more likely Motion. We reset the type for appropriate display in video. We redo the color schemes. We correct typos. We solve logical progression problems (because the video audienc eannt ask question s or ask for clirification). We redo the animations because they're usually lame and stupidly overcomplicated or banal.

Most of our clients have come to respect our abilities to make the best of their PP for video and let us work it out. Others are insanely, inflexibly possessive.

Out of PP you can export as still images or you export as a movie. The problem with using the movie export is is often does not accurately render the timing and layering of the original prezo.

Here's how I would handle this if this is your first time: find your company's PP expert and drag them into the project. If you don't have one of those, you msut be prepared for a bit of a trial.

Thank you David for your reply.

I managed to send the graphic slide to Photo, and then insert each slide as the video progressed.

For the life of me, I cannot seem to do that again, and cannot finde the album in Photo.

Maybe I am too tired! I will try again in the morning

Do you mean iPhoto? There is a File->Share->Send to iPhoto... command in Powerpoint, but for better results I think you should not use it, even if it works.

David has given exquisite advice, but if you opt for a quicker solution, you could just export the slides as image files to a folder on your mac.

I don't see any reason to involve a third application. Just do File->Save As... and choose to save all slides as png. Then you can use all these files in FCP X with better image quality and greater flexibility than you would have with an iPhoto slideshow.
