how do you save an edited picture on Preview as an html picture? i don't see a "save for web" option under Preview

i am wondering how you can save a picture as an html when you edit a picture in Preview. There's no "save for web" option when it comes to compressing an image. is it possible to save a picture for the web while using preview? please answer if there's any type of loopholes that i can use to save a picture for the web. thanks

No such thing as an HTML picture. HTML is text. For Web usage JPG or PNG will work. the only real consideration is file size. A larger picture will take longer download, than a smaller one.

Just export it as a JPG. Anything under 1MB should work fine. The Slider at the bottom of the Export window will let you play with the compression. Note, that the lower the file size the worse the image quality will be.

You can save the photo out of the iPhoto library and resize it, both in pixel dimension and in files size, with the Custom export option:

Select:

  • Kind = JPEG
  • JPEG Quality = experiment to see which one gives you the smallest file size that has acceptable image quality.
  • Size = Custom - set the maximum dimension for the image as it will be displaced on the webpage.

You may find that Medium or Low JPEG Quality will give you acceptable image quality and will be faster to load in a browser.
