In the iOS 9 update Apple replaced the Newsstand app with a new app called News.
Wrong, Newsstand is still there, but it's just an ordinary folder now.
I wonder if this will put to rest any doubts about Newstand not being a real app but a glorified folder. ?
My statement above is correct actually. Apple did replace the newsstand app with News, and they did also add a useless folder called Newsstand.
It should. Newsstand is still useful for people who would prefer to use a magazine/news publisher's dedicated app instead of viewing it collectively in News. For those that never used it, now they can get rid of it.
Thank you. How I'll miss the weekends I spent trying to get people to believe it works different from other apps because it is different. 🙂
I understand that it was installed as a new News app for iOS 9, but it did not show up. I also read somewhere that this was only for US. If I am in Canada, is this going to be why I am not seeing this app, and if so, how can I get the old one back to use ? (even if it is just a folder, it was a good one, for exactly what it was labelled as).
