Sep 27, 2015 9:15 PM in response to mwarrenclarkby Limnos,Okay, I understand you copied your iTunes folder to the external drive. I understand you created a new library. Given what you said nothing should show up in the new library except what might be automatically downloaded from the iTunes Store depending upon the preferences settings you use.

Sep 28, 2015 7:28 AM in response to mwarrenclarkby Limnos,It often helps to tell us in detail what it was you did. People say things such as, "I moved my library," but in reality the action did not do what they thought it was doing. I am wondering if you really created a new library? Even if you did, I believe the default iTunes setting is to automatically download missing content from the iTunes Store. For example, some people buy a new computer, sign into the Store, and then wonder why all their content is not appearing, not knowing that Apple does not in fact keep their library in iCloud but is only redownloading content to their empty library.

Sep 28, 2015 12:06 PM in response to Limnosby mwarrenclark,laughs....ok, fair enough..it all does make sense in my head...:).....I opened the external drive and then the finder, found the itunes folder and moved the whole thing to the external drive. After it finished copying i closed itunes then reopened itunes (option...open) and chose the itunes folder on the external drive as the...default.? I had convinced myself that that worked and then threw the itunes folder (on the finder) away, and emptied the trash. I reopened itunes with the external drive attached and everything seems fine...meaning everything was there..:).....What I want to do now is to have a ...version...library...? of itunes on the desktop just for maintaining the apps on the iphone and a few podcasts that I just don't want to save. If/when I want to listen to music or "read" books from the external drive itunes library I will just connect the drive..? I only have one usb to connect to the external drive so i can't just open itunes from there and use it to update the apps....i don't think..? Laughs again, does that make any sense..? Thank you for your help...!!!!!
