Is anyone seeing small icons on lock screen other than Camera in iOS9?

Question

I have periodically seen small icons on the lock screen of iPad and iPhone running 9.0.1 for other 3rd party apps, or the Calculator.

They come and go. Perhaps a new feature?

May have found it...

"Suggested apps are shown on the bottom-left corner of your lock screen and in the app switcher,..."

App Switcher is the cause, as you've discovered.

App Switcher appeared in iOS 8, as I recall.

My issue is that it seems to work so seldom, and seemingly erratically, that is is basically useless.

It's poorly described in the notes.
