Hi all,
After upgrading to ios9, the text entry field under Messages is covered by a grey panel with a white timecode at the far right which simply says "0:00". It completely covers the text field so I can no longer see what I'm typing. Has anyone else experienced this? See screenshot below.

Hi, I think this has something to do with the character counter in the messaging app. I turned it on and the bar disappeared.

I had the same issue. Toggling the Character Count On and/or Off fixed the issue. I could go back to the original state of Character Count then without an issue.
I believe Apple needs to fix this. All solutions offered appear to be temporary only. The problem persists. Temporary fixes include toggling the character count On and/or Off in Settings > Messages and closing other apps such as Camera before returning to text message.
