Q: Google lead services cookie

The main problem is that the address or link that I type does not get resolved, and safari changes my selection to www.googleleadservices + a load of other variable numbers and letters. Safari freezes and I get the egg timer. Sometimes if I select the same link again a second time it will navigate there.  Normally I have to close the browser and reopen and try again.  I have seen a lot about this online, and I have seen it referred to as a virus, clearly its not, but it does intercept addresses I want to navigate to and redirects them to its own google search.  It can be any address such as I click a favourite... my bank or another site.

If I check cookies, I find this cookie "google lead services" there, and when I delete that Safari works fine, well at least for a few minutes and then we are in the same cycle again as it picks it up again.   I have Safari set to not accept third party cookies, and not to allow tracking.  They don't seem to work.

I have seen references to it being some sort of remnant of google chrome, (which I have now deleted)

I prefer to use safari and this google thing is completely spoiling it.

I do not get this with Firefox
