Q: Can I replace a 2014 MacBook Air SSD with a 2011 one?

I am currently in Argentina, where it's an absolute nightmare to get hold of parts. The official Mac Station reseller wants USD$633 for a new hard-drive!!!!! As you can guess this is absolute bonkers. As such, I'm going to get a friend to bring one from the UK when he visits me next week.

I've found some on eBay, but they are 2011/2012/2013 hard drives. Will these work in my early 2014 MacBook Air?

Also, if I get a 256GB one, which will replace the 128GB one that is already in there, is that ok or not?

I am not very familiar with newer computers but pending an answer from somebody else my thoughts are you are starting to get into the era of customized drives. These aren't your standard SSD drives and you will need to get the right one or it won't fit. Also bear in mind that since this isn't regarded as a customer serviceable part working on it yourself may mean Apple would never again look at your computer should you need to take it in for a different service.
