Q: OS X Yosemite won't boot after update
Here's my setup:
Macbook Pro 7,1 Mid--2010
10GB RAM (1 8gb + 1 2gb)
1TB Toshiba HDD
OS X Yosemite 10.10.0 installed beside Windows 7 32
Here's my issue:
I installed the 10.10.3 update from the app store. It installed the shut down and turned back on. The progress bar went to about 20% then shut down. I tried booting into recovery, but it got to about 40% then froze. I went into single-user mode and tried fsck but the "disk could not be verified completely." In other words, fsck FAILED. I tried internet recovery, but no luck there either.
For some reason, I can still boot into the Windows 7 partition and even see my Macintosh HD partition. I went into the partition and backed up my files to an external hard drive. I'm unsure as to what I can do to fix this. I only have another windows computer and the OS X Yosemite App from the app store, meaning I can't boot from it. I have an iAtkos Mountain Lion Hackintosh DVD that I may be able to use to reinstall OS X then install Yosemite again, but I've heard it's dangerous.
Any ideas as to what to do? Any help is appreciated!
