Why can I not get Messages notification to both Watch and iPhone?

I sometimes don't notice that I get Messages notifications on my watch (while outside or in noisy environment), and would like to receive Messages notifications on both my Apple Watch and my iPhone. However, according to this article, About notifications on your Apple Watch - Apple Support, this does not seem possible. The article says that notifications go to the watch if the phone is asleep or locked. The problem is that the notifications I may have missed on my watch do not appear on phone lock screen. Is there not an option to receive Messages (or other important) notifications on both my Watch and my iPhone to make sure I don't miss them?

Hi

Subject to your other settings, you can receive notifications on both devices if you disable Wrist Detection. However, by doing that you would lose the benefit of related features (eg display activation upon wrist raise, automatic unlocking upon removal, ability to use Apple Pay, etc).

If you would prefer to have further options for configuring notifications, you can let Apple know here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/watch.html
