windows 10 cannot remove older version of itunes

Since the upgrade to windows 10, I can't upgrade iTunes. Tried to uninstall from the control panel and I get an error message. Tried to re-install and I get the message "cannot remove older version of iTunes". I have tried several things suggested from the Microsoft page and no luck. How can I resolve this? Thank you! 🙂
