Q: iPhone 6s Plus battery percentage getting stuck

My iPhone 6s Plus battery percentage gets stuck frequently. Like for example, it will say 87% all day, and then I'll plug it in for an hour, and it will still say 87%.

The only fix I've found is to power the phone off and then turn it back on. Then the percentage will update correctly, and will usually continue to update properly for awhile. But eventually it gets stuck again.

In the 3 days since it was delivered on Friday, I've had to reboot my iPhone 6s Plus at least four times to fix this issue.

I am having the exact same issue. Took my two day old iPhone 6s to the Apple Store and had it swapped for a new one. Same issue, even after the 9.0.2 update. Just now my phone was showing 79% battery, I hard rebooted it and it powered back up to 42%. Also, I have done several complete charges and complete discharges, and that hasn't helped. Everyone seems to think the battery rocks on this phone, but I don't trust it at all.  Unfortunately, unless people are paying close attention to their battery percentages, they may not even know they have this issue.

That's interesting to know swapping for a new phone didn't help. Do we think it's for sure a software bug?

    Hi.

I have the exact same problem with my iPhone 5 32GB.

I did not note the problem with iOS 9.0.0 and iOS 9.0.1 but just with last update 9.0.2

Gads74 - you can always point them to this thread as proof it's not just you having the issue.

I noticed this happening to me as well. I think the 9.0.2 update actually made it worse.

Gads74 - I have the same issue and am glad I found this thread. I have a new 6S and maybe 5 times or so I've had the battery percentage stick on me. There is no problem charging the device and it doesn't drain quickly. Much like you, the percentage will stay at a random number. Once I restart the phone, the battery appears at its correct percentage. This doesn't happen all of the time but it happens enough to be annoying.

I Went to the Apple Store and they swore up and down that this was not a hardware issue, so they couldn't give me a new phone. They claim that 'sometimes things get messed up during data transfer'. They think it is the software that controls the battery percentage. I was told to try wiping the phone clean and backing up again. If that didn't work, I was told to do the restore as new option which would make me lose all text threads, apps etc. To me that isn't acceptable.

As far as software, the phone came with 9.0.1 and I quickly updated to 9.0.2. So, 9.0.2 is the only software that I've had and it could be the issue as some have suggested.

Please post if you have this issue too

I have the same problem as well.  AT&T 6S 16GB.  Battery icon and percentage seem to run down ok.  But will charge overnight and lightening bolt will show, but the percentage won't go up and the battery icon doesn't fill.  I have to restart my phone after every charge for an accurate battery symbol.  Did not set up the phone from a back up, I set it up as new.

I believe it's not a hardware problem since I got two 6s Plus with same problem. Just curious any fix on this.

Today I found Apple Online Store. They told me it can be replaced but 2 weeks was required for checking and delivery. I just afraid that same issue was found after the replacement.

Has anyone from Apple actually acknowledged that this is an issue? I know there are various threads on various forums for this problem, yet everyone working directly with Apple is being told that they are unaware of it.

I'm curious about whether or not this has to do with restoring from a backup which tends to come with problems.

Can anyone confirm that they're getting this problem even after restoring their phone as new, and not from a backup?
