Q: iPhone 6s Plus battery percentage getting stuck

My iPhone 6s Plus battery percentage gets stuck frequently. Like for example, it will say 87% all day, and then I'll plug it in for an hour, and it will still say 87%.

The only fix I've found is to power the phone off and then turn it back on. Then the percentage will update correctly, and will usually continue to update properly for awhile. But eventually it gets stuck again.

In the 3 days since it was delivered on Friday, I've had to reboot my iPhone 6s Plus at least four times to fix this issue.

This happened to me for the first time yesterday (after 2 weeks of having my 6s, 64gb, version 9.2 ios) - went to bed at 22%, woke up after charging all night and it still indicated 22% - also was the first time I had changed the time to get more lives on candy crush (which I did for years on my 4s without issue). Rebooted thanks to this forum and seems to be working for now (counting down percentage).  Sent a comment to Apply re:bug.

The trouble is all the workarounds are just that, workarounds. The easiest and quickest of course is to reboot the iPhone.

But the point is there's a bug. Hopefully Apple fixes it.

What's the status with Apple regarding the Percentage Battery reading getting stuck?

You certainly won't find out in this user-to-user technical support forum that has only limited Apple presence, and no Apple technical presence. If it were my phone I would make a genius bar appointment, or call Apple support.

I'm having same issue with my 6s+ 64GB. I have never did a backup and I never changed system time. I dont have Candy Crash installed, but i have installed few games. The bug appears randomly and the only way to fix it is to restart the phone.

I'm having same issue with my 6s 128GB.

Since I've read this post and stopped changing time for candy crush, I dont have the problem again.

When the problem appears i noticed something strange with health app : it doesn't display the datas anymore (steps, running and walking distances etc...)

and still in health app, in sources, no device is displayed.

After reboot, everything is ok and health app displays all the datas even when the iphone was bugged

Apple, if you read this post : make an update and fix this because we don't buy cheap phones we just want the best !

If you are changing the time how do you expect iOS to track time? that's not a bug in iOS, that's a bug in the way you use it.

My 6+ just started doing this after nearly a year of never having this happen before. It was at 100% when I took it off the charger. About 30 minutes later it dropped to 99% which never happens when I haven't even used it yet. It's been stuck on 98% and it's been on the charger all night. Rebooting doesn't change a thing.

My wife's 6S has been having this issue for a few weeks. Figured I should log it somewhere in the hopes Apple tries to fix the bug. I'll detail the steps so far –

    Problem

    • Battery meter on the 6S started getting stuck and not reporting the battery level was dropping.
    • Plugging it in to power would charge the battery but not unstick the reported level.
    • Rebooting the phone would resume normal reporting.
    • This would happen almost every day.

    Steps to fix

    • Took phone in to Genius Bar.
    • They restored to phone to clean install. We set up everything again clean and used it for a couple days. Issues were not fixed.
    • Took phone back to Genius Bar.
    • They replaced the phone under warranty. Used it for a few days and still having issues.
    • Made an appointment to take it back in to the Genius Bar.

There has been an issue with users resetting the system clock for some sort of hack of candy crush, which "fools" the battery gauge. Are you doing that?

I know my wife does do that. I think she's stopped while we've been trying to fix it but I will double check with her and report back. Thanks!
