Q: iPhone 6s Plus battery percentage getting stuck

My iPhone 6s Plus battery percentage gets stuck frequently. Like for example, it will say 87% all day, and then I'll plug it in for an hour, and it will still say 87%.

The only fix I've found is to power the phone off and then turn it back on. Then the percentage will update correctly, and will usually continue to update properly for awhile. But eventually it gets stuck again.

In the 3 days since it was delivered on Friday, I've had to reboot my iPhone 6s Plus at least four times to fix this issue.

Is everyone who is having this battery indicator problem using the standard Apple charge cord?  Or another brand?  Was on chat with Apple today and he suggested that it's possible my charge cord (Monoprice Luxe) isn't very compatible and making the indicator askew.  I've been using only the Monoprice Luxe since I got the phone and it could be an issue I suppose.

I actually was wondering about this. I use an Apple cable for charging at home/overnight—but I do use some off-brand cable for plugging my phone into the USB port in my car radio. My iPhone 6s is only seven days old, and this frozen battery meter issue has happened twice, and both times were shortly after I'd had my phone plugged into my car, via third-party cable.

Example: I had my phone plugged into my car radio with an off-brand cable on Saturday while I was out running errands, came home, and that evening I plugged my phone into my Apple cable to charge overnight. When I woke up, the phone was stuck on 42%. I restarted, and it showed 100%. Later that same day, the meter had only dropped down to 98%, so I restarted again and it showed the accurate charge of 54%. I didn't have occassion to use my phone in my car for the next several days—and my phone's battery meter worked perfectly. Then, yesterday, I had my phone again plugged into my car via the off-brand cable for my evening commute. Later in the evening, I plugged in my phone on my nightstand with my Apple cable and went to sleep. This morning, I woke up and checked my phone, and it was stuck again. I restarted and it went back to 100%.

It could just be an utter coincidence, but I was already wondering if my non-Apple cable was contributing this issue, since I've had various problems with off-brand cables before (sometimes my iPhones haven't recognized the cable, sometimes they recognize it enough to play music on my radio but not apply a charge, etc.). So now I'm even more curious about it, given onegymrat's post... Then again, I also play Candy Crush and change the time often, so it could be that. But the four days of perfect use while I was playing Candy Crush makes me wonder if that's really it.

Does anyone else who runs into this issue use an off-brand cable sometimes?

Tamara, on the other hand, my iPad Mini 2 has had zero problems with the off-brand cable.  Regardless whether the cord affects the 6s, I feel there has to be a patch for them to fix this and definitely something with the phone.

Anyone notice that the percentage of the battery will only stuck if you put charging on airplane mode?

When i charging with airplane mode off (cellular signal+wifi is on), the battery percentage updates like normal.

    iPhone 6s 64Gb

You could be on to something there. I'd always put my iPhone in airplane mode before changing the time, so I wouldn't mess up my email and calendar.

SInce ive stopped changing the date/time, I haven't had my battery percentage get stuck a single time.

I have the same problem with my 3 day old 6s Plus  64gb w/ Samsung chip.  I do change the time for Candy Crush. The consensus seems to be if I stop doing this the issue will fix itself - yes?

Same issue for me. 6s plus 64gb. Have to reset every time I charge to view accurate percentage. Use Apple provided cord and only a week old phone. Running iOS 9.1. Samsung chip. Help!

Yes. If you stop messing with your time, the battery percentage should stop getting stuck.

I Think it is the changing of the time. I haven't changed mine for weeks now and it's been perfect.

I Think it's crap that this is the only way to fix it at this point. I called Apple and they said go to the store. She also said she had never heard the issue and that this forum unfortunately is just a dumping ground for complaints....go figure. Guess I'll refrain from changing time until they address it.

im pretty sure it is changing the time for games that does it. I haven't changed the time for ages now and my battery percentage has been perfect

Hi. I was having the same problem. they already replaced me with a brand new one 6s plus. But it happened again and did hard reset. This was when i changed the date and time for the cc game. Do you think i should just stop changing the date and time ? Hoping for your input on this. Thanks.

I Honestly think that is what it is. Try it for a week and see if it stops happening

Hopefully that will be it. 2nd replacement already on this brand new 6s plus. If this happens again, i might  have to go LG V10. lol
