Iphone 5c
I cannot hear sound for calls in the ear piece. People can hear me speak, and I can hear them if I put it on speaker, or use headphones.
No recent trauma to phone, seems to have happened in the last week or so. Could it have to do with the update?

It sounds like you can hear people on a call with a headset plugged in, but cannot hear it from the built in receiver ear piece. I would recommend you use the troubleshooting in the following article about that very issue:
