Q: I received the following email today - Is this a scam?

I have received the following email today twice.  Is this a phishing scam?

Apple ID - bcouglin@tenin.net

Case Validation Request: #B20UA21515-EU52
Date: 28 - September - 2015


PLEASE PRINT THIS MESSAGE FOR YOUR RECORDS - PLEASE READ THIS EMAIL IN FULL.

At Apple, your security means everything to us. That’s why we are contacting you today with regard to your Apple Account bcouglin@tenin.net with us. The Apple Privacy Policy was updated on September 17, 2014 and now requires members to update the information we hold on them due to Know Your Customer (KYC) regulation.

We have tried to get in touch with you on 4 previous occasions to substantiate this information before the privacy policy update on the 17th of September and did not received a response. This is the final notification before closure of your Apple & iTunes Account within the next 48 hours and all associated data.

    You can contact Apple for support with you Apple ID but I have never seen/heard/witnessed Apple ever closing any Apple ID account for any reason. Especially a reason as silly as not being able to verify your account.

     

    You can go to appleid.apple.com to see if you have a validated email address on file. It will show you Apple ID and Primary Email Address and will have green words that have a check mark and the word "Verified."

     

    Looks like a phishing email to me. Maybe contact iTunes support anyway to report it. That way they know it's going around.
