Start charging my iPod but the battery stays red even though it says it's charging

I Recently got a 5th gen 32GB iPod touch and it was charging fine last night and the charge lasted all day but now I'm trying to charge it but the battery is not goino out of the red. It has the little lightning bolt symbol but it won't move out of the red? Any help?

If you can’t charge your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

- Try another cable. The cable for 5G or later iPod (lightning connector) seems to be more prone to failure than the older cable.

- If a 5G ot later iPod

- Try another charging source

- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
