Latest iTunes version is not recognizing drivers for Windows 10

I have a Windows10 machine. None of my devices (iphone, ipad, multiple ipods) are being recognized since updating to the latest version of iTunes as of 9/28/15. I have updated my iphone6 and ipad, iTunes, powered them off, tried different cables, different USB ports and nothing works. The instructions don't cover Windows10. I don't want to reinstall iTunes. I finally got everything cleaned up and cataloged the way I wanted, which took an immense time to clean up. I don't see conflicts in the device drivers. In fact I don't see the reference to the device at all. Any suggestions besides uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes?

iPhone 6, iOS 9.0.1, ipad, ipod

I have this same issue - tried to connect my ipod (gen 6) and get the error message "iTunes has detected an iPod but it is not recognized." Win 10 Device Manager tells me there is a driver problem, but when I try to look for an updated driver, it tells me my driver is up to date. Troubleshooting my iPod leads me nowhere.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes. I'm not sure if the issue occurred since updating to Windows 10, or since installing the latest version of iTunes - since I haven't attempted to connect a device since updating to Windows 10 (I generally sync my iPhone and iPad over WiFi). It looks like this is a known issue. Any help???

Thanks!

Thank you for the update. I had previously sync'd successfully on Win10. It wasn't until the last iTunes update that it became an issue. I have done a LOT of customization of iTunes data on my songs and really don't want to do that. Going to wait to see if Apple will fix. It is absurd to break functionality and expect the customer to have reinstall. Poor customer experience on Apple's part. I appreciate your response and level of detail.

Try the following:

  1. Open Control Panel > Device Manager
  2. Plug in your device
  3. Locate Universal Serial Bus Controllers > Apple Mobile Device USB Driver
  4. Right-click and select Update Driver Software...
  5. Click Browse my computer for driver software
  6. Browse to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers or
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
  7. Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
  8. Click Apple Mobile Device USB Driver
  9. Click Next, then Close and exit Device Manager

If that hasn't fixed things see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates. A full tear down and rebuild may be in order. Waiting for the next iTunes update may not necessarily fix things for you once they have gone wrong.
