Deleting emails on my phone but not on my PC

At one time, I was able to see my emails (gmail) on my iPhone 5s, read them and delete them but they remained on my account on my PC. Somewhere along the line that changed and when I delete on on the phone it is also deleted on my PC. Where can I change a setting or option to get back to where I was before?
