Since my purchase of my new iPhone 6s, it hasn't done an automatic iCloud backup ever. It did do a backup when I tapped backup now, however none since.
Is this a problem with iOS 9 or the 6s?
iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)
I am presuming that Settings - iCloud - Backup is set to ON and that your phone is plugged in and connected to WiFi every night?

When is the last back up time showing? Mine usually occurs between 11:45 to 2 AM timeframe....
My last backup was Sept 26 noon. This is the only backup ever and was a manual one or I clicked backup now. There has been none since.
There was an update to iOS 9 tonight to fix iCloud backups. Lets see if it worked!
Still doesn't work. No backups to iCloud! Any ideas?
I have called Apple Care twice, gone to the Genius Bar, asked Apple staff, tried everything, with no success. My iCloud automatic backup still doesn't work. It is sad that a phone only week old can't be fixed. Is it possible it is a defect in iPhone 6s itself or iOS 9. Worse, why can't it be fixed.
I suppose you have restored the phone as new? In the sense just reset it to Factory settings - not from a back up and see if it backs up
It doesn't. The phone is only a week old, maybe it is the iPhone 6s that is the problem.
Went to Apple Genius tonight, this problem is unfixable! It is a poor reflection on Apple when a problem with the most recent iPhone can't be fixed. Sad.
It did an update suddenly today.
It now does an automatic backup about 1-2 times per week. Better than nothing.
It needs to be connected to power and WiFi for about 8 hours that straddles the time of the previous iCloud backup. The best way to assure this is to leave the phone connected to the wall adapter overnight, every night.
It is connected to WiFi and power every night for more than 8 hours, and only backs up occasionally.
This is better than when I first got the iPhone 6s; it did no automatic backups at all.
Make sure you have enough available iCloud storage for a backup. If there isn't enough it will ask ask you if you want to add more, but if you are asleep you won't see the message and the backup won't happen.
