How can I use iMessages with 10.7.5?

I'm using OS version 10.7.5 and I cannot seem to find iMessages. Is there a way to use iMessages with this version of OS?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Messages requires Mac OS X 10.8 or newer.
