Q: Can I run Windows on a new MacBook Pro?

I'm looking at some software for a scale I use at work (food retail) that is not configured for Mac, but the salesman says it can be done if I run Windows on my Mac. I haven't done that before - is it easy and, more importantly, reliable? Thanks.

You can run windows on a virtual machine or you can actually install windows as a separate operating system via bootcamp. How to install Windows using Boot Camp - Apple Support

I personally use the dualboot (bootcamp) and yes it is very reliable and works just fine

Hi, thanks for that. Is there any way to do it without leaving the Mac OS?

What do you mean "without" leaving?

If you mean to stay within Mac without leaving it for a new boot, you can do so by using a Virtual Machine program (check Oracle's VM VirtualBox).

If you mean to totally remove Mac OS X without leaving it installed, boot into Windows Setup from previously created bootable Windows Installation USB and when you come to select target partition, delete all partitions and let Windows create the partitions on its own. But BE CAREFUL, BACK EVERY THING UP AND DO IT ON YOUR OWN RISK ONLY!

But I wonder: why do you want to do so?! Simply install Windows as parallel and your good to go. Mac OS X is not bad actually, even probably better as Windows! I need Windows for a lot of purchased programs on Windows, but Mac is still a good choice to stick to!
