Is a 4gb macbook air enough

Hi,

I recently switched to a Mac from PC. I purchased the Macbook Air 13 inch 4gb ram model. I am interested in purchasing Logic Pro X, switching from FL Studio and was wondering if it would run smoothly with my model. Any help is appreciated!

In truth.... your Mac can run Logic Pro X but only just.... depending on the type of instruments and effects you wish to use and how many tracks... You would have to work in such a way as to limit the loads placed on this Mac's hardware in order to get the most out of it.

4GB is the absolute minimum amount of memory needed (8gb is usually what i would recommend as the bare minimum with 16 or 32GB considered much better and ideal) and the Air is typically underpowered CPU/graphically speaking relative to it's cost compared to other Mac models.. for running Pro level applications such as Logic Pro X or other Pro DAWs.. The Air is a lightweight easily portable Mac that is very good for certain general use purposes but there are tradeoffs made in the process and the Air really isn't the best choice for DAW use given what other Macs are out there that are much more suited to this purpose for about the same price.

However, as you have already bought your Mac it's kind of trying to close the barn door after the horse has bolted so, you have what you have....and you will need to make the most of it.

Probably not what you wanted to hear.. but bear in mind it's just my personal opinion and others may choose to disagree...
