Q: My iPhone 6s home button is really hot and the device won't turn on

i have had my phone since Friday, and this morning when I woke up the home button was burning hot and the screen is just black. I went to bed with it working just fine last night, plugged it in to charge, and now it won't work. Nothing else is hot, not even the charging port, just the home button is on fire. I have had the phone unplugged for an hour and the button is still on fire.  I had just made the choice to switch from a Samsung to this iPhone and need to say it makes me slightly regret my choice because I have always known that apple products have tons of issues. I an not happy that I have had this phone for less than 5 days and this is happening. Anyways, is there anything i can do to fix it without having to go into the apple storeI did not finish setting up my iCloud, so to lose all of information because of a defective phone will not make me happy.

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.0.1, null

The iPhone does nothing wrong. It is all your fault, you must did something wrong then the Home button getting hot. After you restart the phone, it works perfectly.
I have 2 phones 1 iPhone 6s and 1 HTC Butterfly 2, the Android is quite cheap, only ~300$ (international version) and I use it for some tasks that can't do with my iPhone.

Has anyone updated to iOS 9.0.2 yet? I'm wondering if this has fixed this issue. Not sure if this can be solved through a software update or if it's hardware related or perhaps both.

The hot home button has happened to me a few times so hope this update will fix it and if it happens again then I'm off to the Apple Store.

This happened to me overnight.  All was working fine, then this morning alarm didn't go off - phone was dead.  The home button wicked hot and did the reset as suggested above.  Then when I saw your post I went to software update and it had already initiated the download of iOS 9.0.2 and was in the "preparing update" phase.  I went ahead and installed, but never had it initiate the software update on it's own.  This concerns me!  Seems to be working fine now, but time will tell.

Yeah I've had it too this morning here in Germany. Used the bigger iPad charger but that is not the issue because others have stated here they used the normal one. My phone is running 9.1 beta 2

This is a no go especially because you could miss alarms, now I can set up a second alarm device :S.

iPhone 6s 128Gb. No case, apple charger used for the few days I've had this phone. Home button was warm. Just updated to IOS 9.0.2 a few hours ago, so doesn't appear to be the fix. Do I need to go back to Verizon and get my phone replaced?

Same here. iPhone 6s, 64GB, iOS 9.01, Restored from Backup of iPhone 5 iOs 9.01 on 26 September 2015

Display dark, Power and Home Button not working, Touch ID/Home Button very very hot.

First time malfunction on 28. September 2015. Reactiviation with Power+Home for about 10 seconds worked.

Apple Support found no problems with their "Mobile Resource Inspector".

    Second time 30. September 2015.

I have asked to change the device. Got a new one with express service today.

I will give it a try. If it occurs again, bye bye apple. I dont want to reset my phone every day.

This just happened to me for the first time. My battery hit 20%, it asked if i wanted to go into low power mode which I did (for the first time) and then when I next picked it up it was off and the home button was super hot. I've had zero problems before this. Maybe it has something to do with low power mode? either way there is always some issues when new one first come out. I'm sure it will get addressed or I'll have it replaced. Will continue to monitor. Thanks everyone though on the reset instructions. I must not have been holding it down long enough when I tried previously.

I hit snooze on my alarm this morning and went back to bed - woke up about 15 minutes later and tried to check my phone to see what time it was... I burnt my thumb and immediately dropped the phone back on the dresser. Now the phone won't turn on - my wife told me to leave it at home and she would try to get it to work.

This is my first iPhone and like the phone, but hope we didn't just get a lemon. I have been charging the phone using the supplied charger and not using a case.

Just for the record, having the same issue here with iPhone 6S, 128GB, iOS 9.0.2. Screen randomly goes blank and cannot turn on with a simple power button. Home button/Touch ID gets really hot. Require to hold both power and home button for 10 seconds while connected to power.

Also want to add to my earlier post that I was using IOS 9.1 public beta 1, with iPhone 6s 16GB. What I've noticed so far is that this problem is affecting all 6s and 6s+ models, from 16GB to 128GB, using IOS 9.0.1, 9.0.2, 9.1 public beta 1. When will Apple begin to publicly acknowledge this issue and make a fix is the question.

JJust do the reset procedure. Hold down power and home button simultaneously for 10 seconds and wait for the Apple logo to appear. Phone should reset.

Thats great. But please update your post to let all know if the problem happens again. If it does, I think a warranty return to Apple is in order.

I'm having the same problem with my iPhone 6s home button hot to the touch and shutting off. I tried rebooting by holding down home button and sleep button for 10 seconds but to no avail. I put the phone in the freezer for a minutes then tried rebooting again... it powered on. Unfortunately I went through this process twice now. Can't wait for Apple to fix this problem as I like my 6s.
