I Accidentally deleted my system preferences and I would LOVE to have it back (I Do not have a startup disk)

Yes I did I'm new to computers (first day with iMac) and I didn't really know what I was pressing. what is fire wire? my family has 5 different computers one of them runs the same osx

thank you! But I found out how to fix it! I plugged a thumb drive into another computer using the same version of OSX and I downloaded it off the thumb drive back onto my computer!
