Hide Purchase Issues

I have tried and tried to "Hide" purchased apps from the app store via my iPhone 6 and 6S as well as my iPad, (multiple versions, every update I try and try again!) no matter what I do it never hides. Yes it removes for a few seconds but it I leave the app store and come back there there are again. It is extremely annoying that they cannot be deleted, I do not want my purchases from 7 years ago what apps I used then I do not need now and it is a pain to have to scroll through app after app when I can simply delete the app I will NEVER USE AGAIN! At least if the HIDE option worked it would relieve some of my frustration over this completely annoying feature.
