how do I get a Macbook Pro screen to light up? I powered it down to transport it to another location and when I push the button to turn it on, only the keyboard lights up. Please help me.

I can't get the screen on my Macbook pro to light up when I power it on.

As Pmintz25 indicates, sub-model is critical as there are MacBook pro sub-models with known serious--sometimes fatal--problems.


First, from another internet device, use this Apple article to find your MBP serial number:


How to find the serial number of your MacBook Pro - Apple Support


Once you have it, enter it into this Apple support page:


https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do


The page will return something like this:

Respond to your own thread with what the first line reads. If your MBP is too old for the Apple page to work, you can find a simialr function on this third-party web page (click the blue letters):

Once we have that we can better advise you on a course of action. Some models with problems may still qualify for a free reaip, others not.
