If I turn off read receipts, read the message, then delete the thread and turn them back on, will it show as being read?

If I turn off my read receipts to read a message, and then delete the entire thread (without responding), will it show up as being read?

Somebody sent me an imessage, but I don't want them to know I've read it, and I usually keep my read receipts on. If I turn off my read receipts to read their imessage, and then delete the imessage thread right away, will it show up on their end as being read once I turn my receipts on? Even if I delete the whole thread from my end?

Now I understand! Good question, I never thought about it that way. I would think once you deleted the message/thread (with read receipts turned off) that it would no longer show up on their end (even if you turned it back on afterwards). But I don't know for sure. If it did send a receipt, I would think that is a major privacy flaw. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can give a definitive answer.

Why don't you just do the experiment with someone who's willing to help.

One more reason I never keep that feature turned on. I never have to worry about stuff lie this. I figure that, when I reply, people will know I've read the message.
