Q: iMovie doesn't recognize the new Photos app?

Ever since I downloaded the Photos app update, I can't see my photos (which used to be in iPhoto) in iMovie...anyone else have that issue? If so how to resolve?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Although I don't use photos, you apparently have to designate the library that you want to appear in iMovie as the system library.  maybe this is the reason.  For details see: Designate a System Photo Library in Photos - Apple Support

I have the same issue. For several reasons (need export control through Quicktime + 4x3 aspect ratio) I need to use iMovie 9. I have set a system library; it works in iMovie 10 but not in iMovie 9 since I upgraded to El Capitan (BIG mistake). I tried dragging photos in from the desktop and I can see them in the timeline but they don't appear in the movie frame (it remains black). I can import audio, but not the still photos.

MacBook Pro, OS 10.11 (until I can figure out how to get rid of it), iMovie 9.0.9, photos 1.1

I just upgraded to iMovie 10 and designated the library, like you and GeeD above stated...so far it's working. I have  most of my photos library accessible and I can import photos separately into projects. Thanks to your tip, though, I won't be upgrading to OS Capitan just yet....

    Good luck and thank you!
